Who are we?

Tulsa M.O.M.s is dedicated to providing an opportunity for mothers of multiple-birth children in the Tulsa area to meet for the purpose of supporting each other and their families. We encourage our members as they journey down the exciting, yet challenging road of parenting with multiples and their siblings. The membership of Tulsa M.O.M.s includes expectant mothers of multiples and mothers and grandmothers of multiple-birth children. We are a member club of the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs (NOMOTC).

What do we do for our members?

Monthly meetings are intended to provide information that is pertinent to the members as women and mothers, as well as information beneficial to the entire family. Topics vary ranging from parenting skills and women’s issues to community issues. Programs have featured topics such as a child development specialist, a crafts demonstration, a pediatrician, and a pediatric dentist. We believe that through information our members are better equipped to meet the special challenges as mothers of multiples.

We also provide our members with opportunities to meet socially by arranging events for the family, moms or couple-only nights-out, as well as parties for our children.

Our club library contains books, videos and articles that may be checked out by members. The library contains information relevant to pregnancy, delivery, and the rearing of multiples.

Additionally, we offer an avenue for our members to save and make money by sponsoring Spring and Fall Garage Sales. At these garage sales, our members sell toys, clothing, equipment and household items to each other first and then to the public. Our monthly newsletter includes a “Marketplace” section for members to advertise items for sale or items being sought.

Our member networking extends into professional areas as well. Our member backgrounds are widely varied: teachers, nurses, accountants, and other business-related vocations. We have stay-at-home M.O.M.s as well as full and part-time employed M.O.M.s. We call on each other for advice and direction frequently.

To show our appreciation to the supportive people in Tulsa, we also strive to give back to the community. We make direct cash donations as well as provide a means for our members to donate to local charitable causes. Our Philanthropic Fund strives to assist families with multiples who find themselves in emergency situations due to circumstances beyond their control. The Fund also provides support during Thanksgiving and Christmas to multiply blessed families.

Most importantly, we offer our support in every way possible. As we share some of the same experiences, we are better able to understand one another and to lend encouragement. We listen to each other’s concerns, we try to offer help by relating our own experiences, and we grow to become friends through our sharing.  Back to top.

When & where we meet

Tulsa M.O.M.s meets the first Tuesday of each month at Asbury United Methodist Church located at 6767 S. Mingo. The meetings begin at 7:00 p.m., with the first half-hour being a social time, and end around 9:00 p.m. The meeting is a mixture of business items, social opportunities, as well as almost every month we have informational presentations given by local professionals.

Asbury United Methodist Church has graciously offered to provide childcare for us during our monthly meetings!  This service will be offered for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old.  It will be available starting 15 minutes before the meeting.  Children must be picked up a few minutes before 9:00 pm.  Please feed your children before you drop them off, and please do not bring any peanut products with you.  Thank you Asbury!  Back to top.

Small Group Pre-Meetings

We have three groups that meet before our main meeting.  The groups meet from 6:30 to 7:00ish p.m. and are discussion-based groups led by some of our “experienced“ M.O.M.s.  Topics will include information unique to the group’s age level.  This meeting is a good place to exchange information and tips, and form bonds with other mothers with children the same ages as your children.

What is the cost?

The annual membership dues are $25.00 for the May to April membership year. Dues includes the cost of membership in the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs (NOMOTC) and the state club, Oklahoma Mothers of Multiples (OMOMs).  Members receive the national newsletter bi-monthly, the state newsletter bi-monthly, and our own newsletter monthly.  For first time members joining after January 1, the dues is reduced to $14.00 for the remainder of that year (through April).  Please note that in order to be eligible to participate in the Garage Sale, the deadline to join is the last meeting prior to that sale.

After joining our club, you will be able to attend all of the TMOMs functions, including our semi-annual garage sales on Member shopping night.  You will receive a New Members Packet containing club information, a list of our library resources, and helpful tips and information, including a list of national companies who provide formula, diapers, and baby items at discounted prices (and sometimes free) to mothers of multiples when accompanied by a copy of the official birth certificates.  Back to top.
